Andrea Basteris Profile Andrea was born in Merida, Mexico in 1986. When she turned 17, she began to experiment with the art of drawing with light and capturing an instant to preserve it forever: the photograph. Thirty years after the Chernobyl disaster and his birth, Andrea Basteris set out on what would be, up to now, the most extraordinary and dangerous photographic adventure he has ever undertaken. She has chosen to document, camera in hand, the vestiges and mute testimonies of what which is that city today. Despite growing up on the other side of the planet, Andrea has always felt a connection to the Chernobyl nuclear disaster. Coincidentally the disaster took place in the same year she was born---1986---and it is this serendipity that drew her to the hospitals and maternity wards of Pripyat.
